EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

On 26th September the bilingual groups celebrated the European Day of Languages. The teachers asked the pupils to make different projects. The most active group was the 3rd of ESO.

For the English subject they had to investigate about one or two European countries. They were asked to draw the silhouette of the countries and use original paint styles. Also they had to write the name of the country, its capital and the official and 1st foreign language of each one. This last step was considered the most important, as they students realised that the vast majority of countries have "English" as their 1st foreign language.
For Art, the students made a big European map that was painted with the countries' flags.
Both projects were pasted on glass panels at the school hall.

We are proud of your great work. Have a look at the pictures!

HALLOWEEN 2014: EXHIBITION AND CELEBRATION

The bilingual groups have been working during at least two weeks to achieve a halloween atmosphere at school.
Following the instructions of their English teachers, most of the students made little pieces of art for the exhibition at the hall. The results were excellent. You just have to look at the photos. Really great!!!

We try hard to innovate and be original every year, so this year the students have done the following:

• Pictures on cardboard on both sides to be hung on the ceiling of the hall: bats, black cats, ghosts and pumpkins.
• Coffins made from shoe boxes and especially decorated.
• Some tombstones with epitaphs on them.
• Drawings that represent the typical scenery of this dark night, as haunted houses. bats and vampires.
• Drawings of funny costumes and sentences that represent the tradition of this holiday as "trick or treat".
• A huge witch made of cardboard and another that is in the library made of foam.
•An enormous human skeleton.
• A big black ghost with little white ghosts inside.
•  skeleton dressed as a witch.
• Jack-or-lanterns.
• Some decorations using recycled materials. They have upcycled from rubbish and they have written down the material needed and the process to make the decorations.
• Masks, pumpkins made of clay, a spider's web,  a big white egg that represents a skull over two bones, garlands… and many other things.

And once it was the exhibition ready, 31st October arrived. Many bilingual students dressed up and some teachers, too. You can see them and also two of the school caretakers in the photos.
And to end up this "scary" morning and have some fun, all the students and teachers went to the assembly hall to watch a movie in English- "The Corpse Bride"
It was a special day at the school.

THE BIG CHALLENGE CONTEST

The four bilingual groups participated in The Big Challenge Contest 2014, which took place on 13th May. Some of the students did it very well and they got really good marks related to our community and of course, to their class.
When the prizes were received at school, the teachers filled in the diplomas and then together with the prizes, they were delivered. Each student got a diploma and a magazine. Futhermore, some of them also got a graded reader or some special gifts as dictionaries, diaries or even an English mug.

Here there are pictures of the groups with their diplomas or magazines. I hope you like them!!!

Storytelling: "Food, Glorious Food"

This year the English activity "STORYTELLING" was entitled "Food, Glorious Food". The four bilingual groups participated in it and some students were the "main characters" of the story. The tale was conducted by an English man, Alan Kennedy. All the students, spectators and "actors" or "actresses", enjoyed this activity a lot and had the opportunity to practise their oral skills..

I hope all the students enjoy the photos that were taken at the performance.

Congratulations guys!!

The sudents in the group of 3rd ESO performed the Xmas song All I Want for Christmas Is You, with the only instumental accompaniment of a violin  for the chorus, bells and tambourines.
They sang it to the rest of the groups of Secondary Education at school during the awards ceremony of the Christmas  contests celebrated on 20th December.
